As the responsibility amount on the waivers only contributes towards the repair costs of the vehicle, a Claim Administration Fee of ZAR 740.00 per accident will be levied to cover the costs of processing the claim. This includes items such as assessor fees, quote gathering and legal services.
Renters must be in possession of a valid unendorsed driver’s licence. The minimum age is for vehicle groups A-E and P is 21 years and driver's licence must have been valid for a minimum of 3 years. The minimum age for vehicle groups F-O is 23 years and driver's licence must have been valid for a minimum of 3 years. It is a legal requirement in RSA to be in possession of your drivers licence at all times whilst driving a vehicle.
If you do no cancel your booking before the reservation date and time shown on your booking and fail to pick up your vehicle within 24 hours from that time, a non-cancellation fee of 450.00ZAR will apply.
No cross border rentals are allowed from South Africa to Malawi, Angola or Zambia, even if returning to South Africa.
Please Note: No vehicles are permitted to enter Zimbabwe or Mozambique.
Renters wishing to enter Botswana, Swaziland, Lesotho or Namibia must be in possession of a letter of authority obtainable from a Van Rental location at time of rental. An additional ZAR 700.00 per day will be charged for cross border rentals to these countries.
CROSS BORDER TO NAMIBIA IS PERMITTED AT AN ADDITIONAL COST OF NAD 110.00 ROAD TAX FEE (TO BE PAID AT THE NAMIBIAN BORDER), IF DRIVING A NON-NAMIBIAN VEHICLE.
The non-waiverable liability is increased to 80% on cross border rentals. Collision Damage and Theft Loss waivers of country entered will apply.
Delivery/Collection charge within 25 km from the Van Rental office, ZAR 550.00 Mon - Fri 08h00 - 17h00
Delivery/Collection charge within 25 km from the Van Rental office on weekends, public holidays or out of office hours, ZAR 1 000.00 (On a request basis)
Deliveries and collections further than 25 km from the Van Rental office, an additional charge of ZAR 16.00 per km will apply.
Renters and additional drivers must be in possession of a valid unendorsed driver's license of country of residence. If driver's license is non-roman alphabet, an international driver's license is required. Please note that Foreigners must also produce a valid passport. Rule of the road - drive on the left hand side.
To avoid possible complications when collecting a vehicle we advise foreign travellers to produce a drivers licence which has been issued in the same country as their passport.
Van Rentals accepts credit/charge cards, American Express, Diners, Mastercard and Visa. Please note: The credit card being used needs to be in the name of the renter. Van Rentals DO NOT accept Debit cards/Cheque cards, all numbers must be raised on card.
Petrol is not included in our rates. Cars are delivered full and the customer is charged for full refill upon termination of rental. Fuel consumption is gauged from customer service centre to customer service centre.
A rental contract fee of ZAR105.00 is applicable to all rentals. There is a legal requirement to store documents for a period of 5 years. The fee is for the cost of administering, storing and retrieving all rental contracts.
COLLISION DAMAGE WAIVER (CDW)
Van Rental offers you the option to accept Limited Collision Damage Waivers.
Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) Limited Cover
Choosing this option means that in the event of an accident, the renter is responsible for up to a specified amount as indicated on the Rates Table, for damage repair, whichever is the lower. (*This value is double for weekend rentals).
Note: In the event of an accident occurring when the vehicle was not driven by the renter, or other authorised driver as nominated on the rental agreement, the renter will be responsible for the full damage to or loss of the vehicle. The renter will also be responsible if the vehicle was driven on unsuitable roads, if the renter was driving negligently or if no other car, animal or object was involved.
The renter has the option to decline CDW, in which case the renter is liable for the full amount of damages incurred, or the full responsibility amount (as reflected in the Van Rental Rates Table) and Van Rental will require an additional deposit to cover current responsibility.
THEFT LOSS WAIVER (TLW)
Van Rental offers you the option to accept Limited Theft Loss Waivers.
Theft Loss Waiver (TLW) Limited Cover
Choosing this option means that in the event of theft of a vehicle or part thereof, the renter is responsible for up to an amount as indicated on the Rates Table*, for the replacement of the applicable loss by theft, Personal property is not covered. (* This value is double for weekend rentals).
Declining Limited TLW
In the event that the renter declines TLW, the renter will be responsible for the full amount of damages incurred or the full responsibility amount reflected in the Van Rental Rates Table. If TLW is declined, Van Rental will require an additional deposit to cover current responsibility.
Note: In the case of CDW and TLW for rentals originating in South Africa, and driven into Namibia or Botswana the conditions for CDW and TLW of these countries will apply. Please consult your Rental Sales Agent.
WINDSCREEN TYRE DAMAGE WAIVER (WTDW)
Windscreen Tyre Damage Waiver is only available at the point of rental check out at a cost of:
Vans - R55.00 per day
Trucks - R80.00 per day
This cover not only includes the windscreen but all the glass on the vehicle. No liability charges apply when WTDW is taken.
If WTDW is declined, the maximum liability amount will be SAR 5000.00
Tyre punctures are not covered by liability and not included in the rate.
Windscreen breakage not covered by liability amount and not included in the rate.
